Statement of KSM on the situation after the parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic

On Friday and Saturday, 8-9 October, the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic took place. The elections were conducted entirely according to the principle of the commercial and marketing machinery adapted to business projects and fractions of both domestic and foreign capital. This was what was left of the democratic ideals that were still being fought for by the petty bourgeoisie with the support of the working class during 19th century. Monopoly capitalism has established a fully adequate political and media superstructures for its profit-making purposes.

In the spring of the following year, we're going to commemorate 75 years of the defeat of the Nazi beast. Nazism, politics of German large capital, which was also supported by concessions of Western imperialists (the most sensible for us being so-called Munich betrayal, due to which Nazi Germany was given border regions of Czechoslovakia) was expected to suffocate the rising wave of revolutionary tendencies in Europe and strangled the USSR. Thanks to this desperate step of the Imperialists 360 000 citizens of Czechoslovakia were martyred.
The current work and struggles of the KSM in 2013

The KSM has entered the year 2013 with the results of its last 10th Congress which was held on December 1st, 2012 in Olomouc. It was the first Congress of our organization since the extraordinary legalizing Congress organized immediately after the defeat over the ban of the KSM in 2010. One of the most important outcomes of the Congress was an Appeal for the building of the antiimperialist anti-war movement in the Czech Republic. The antiimperialist struggle has been and is one of the pillars of the work of the KSM. We are waging campaign especially in defence of Syria, Cuba and Venezuela. The KSM organizes meetings with the people, for example meetings where the KSM's delegate, who attended the solidarity mission in Syria in 2012, informs the public about the imperialist war against this country. The KSM has also created a special facebook page for the defence of Syria and actively participated at demonstrations in this cause. The KSM's activists also directly confronted a so called dissident blogger Yoani Sánchez at public debates during her anti-Cuban tour in the Czech Republic in March 2013. The KSM closely co-operates in these struggles with Society of Czech-Cuban friendship and with Czech Peace Movement.

Several fraternal organizations have asked us for our opinion about the current government engagement of the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) with the forming government. We noticed some misconceptions concerning the character of the formed government and the role of the CP in it. Therefore we decided to clarify our view of the situation.

What we fight for
The Communist Youth Union (KSM) is an independent and voluntary organisation building on the theoretical work of Marx, Engels, Lenin and other great thinkers of the communist movement, and carrying on a tradition of the Czechoslovak and global youth movement.
The KSM endeavours to make its contribution to the revolutionary overcoming of capitalism and establishing the economic and social conditions needed for construction of socialism, as a first step towards building a communist society, whose full realisation is the final goal. This effort is expressed with the name of our organization, understanding the concept of communism as marking a vision of the future, a well-organised, classless society, where the power held over people is replaced with a free administration and control of manufacturing processes, and where the basis of freedom in development for all starts with that of each individual.
